Rebekah from our O2 Store in the Merrion Centre decided to hold a charity event for Guide Dogs which ran on Saturday 1st June.

The day consisted of a few games, one of which was "Guess what's in the box?" where people were blind folded and had to guess what items were in the box. Whoever guessed the highest amount of correct items within a minute won a £15 Amazon voucher and the second prize was a Guide Dogs teddy. We also had another "Guess the name of the Puppy" game where the correct entry won another Guide Dogs teddy.

Rebekah decided to hold this charity day for the Guide dogs as she is an O2 Guru and gets visited regularly by a lot of visually impaired customers who request her help on how to get the best out of their mobile phones and tablets using the different functions on their handsets, some of which they may not even know about. A big part of her job is to ensure that our customer are 100% comfortable with using their devices. Over time, Rebekah has gained an understanding of why it is so important to support the Guide Dogs charity. Approximately 1.3 billion people in the world live with some form of a visual impairment and 2 million of them reside within the UK; from that there are around 5000 guide dogs given to those that need them. The lifetime cost of a guide dog is £55,000 but it is a life changing aspect for someone with a visual impairment so she wanted to help by trying to raise as much money as she could.

The total amount raised on the day was £231.50p
