The ‘Phone Zone’ event – jointly hosted by Action and Leeds Vision Consortium (LVC) – will showcase the latest range of smartphones, and their often hidden features and accessories to help people with sight loss to navigate and communicate. These aren’t always obvious to users without some basic training.

Talk Direct's O2 Gurus will be on hand at the event to help out on the day and also available in our stores across the region - Find a Store

Mark Skelton - iCare Project Ambassador“I am registered blind and I am passionate to help others like me to #BeMore digital. Exclusive to Talk Direct O2 Stores, please come and visit our team to find out more on how we can help the visually impaired customers”  Mark Skelton, iCare Project Ambassador.

Action for Blind People’s assistive technology coordinator, Dinos Constantinou, explains: “Sometimes the word technology frightens people, but devices are becoming much simpler to use, many designed especially for blind and visually impaired people.

“Many users with sight loss are aware of these new technologies, but don’t know how to access them. Those who are fully sighted are unaware of the special features so are unable to assist. We’ll help users discover features like screens enlargers, or software that allows the devices to read out messages; making all the difference to those with limited or no vision.”

Phone Zone will take place at Action for Blind People’s office, Fairfax House, Merrion Street, Leeds on Monday 30 March. The event is free, with a small parking charge for those arriving by car. For further information phone 0113 386 2800 or email dinos.constantinou@actionforblindpeople.org.uk
